Revoke issued document

Complete automation of the certification process

Training completed - certificate issued. With DocuCert, automating the entire certificate issuing process can be as easy as this. DocuCert can be integrated into your existing system or workflows eg. your learning management system (LMS). Certificate issuing was never that easy.

Certificate engine

Certificates are tamper-proof

All digital certificates issued with DocuCert are 100% tamper-proof because they are automatically signed and anchored to the Bitcoin blockchain. Once linked to the blockchain, data cannot be altered anymore.

Security by design

Comfortable validation of printed certificates

To verify a printed certificate issued with DocuCert, just scan the digitally-signed QR code, which is part of every certificate. The validity of your certificate can be checked in mere seconds, even if it is printed out.

White-lable validate page

White label validation page included

DocuCert comes with a certificate validation page tailored to your corporate identity under your own subdomain, like https://validate.my-company.com. To validate a certificate, third parties can drag and drop the PDF itself into your white-labeled validation page.

Security by design

Designing certificates is as easy as using Microsoft Word

Anyone who can use Windows Word can design certificates according to your corporate identity, because certificates are based on Word templates. If you don’t want to design your certificate from scratch, you can use one of our many certificates as a template. If you already generate PDF certificates, DocuCert can make them tamper-proof as well.

Security by design

Certificates are machine-readable

Whenever you issue a certificate, the data in a machine-readable format is automatically attached to the certificate. This data can then be fed into other workflows in an automated way. No more typing from paper documents, as systems can directly extract the data from the digital document. The certificates can’t be manipulated as they are digitally signed.

White-lable validate page

Shareable document website for the certificate holder

Every document you issue has a white-labeled document webpage. All the data fields of the document are published on a secured website under your own domain, like https://credentials.my-company.com. The certificate holder can publish this website on social networks, like LinkedIn, and increase your brand’s awareness.

Security by design

Holders of certificates keep full control over their data

Certificates sometimes include sensitive data, like a passport number or address. For good reason, the holder of such a certificate probably doesn’t want to share that information with the whole world. This is why we developed a redaction tool that allows the user to omit specific fields of the issued data set without losing the tamper-proof resistance.

Digitize the issuing and management
of your certificates.

Whether it is a confirmation of participation in compliance training, a diploma, or the result of a product security test:  many certificates are still issued on paper. Seals, watermarks, or signatures guarantee their authenticity. Despite this, in the 21st century, most certificates are required in a digital format.

To digitize the whole process of issuing and managing certificates, we have developed DocuCert. By integrating our solution into your existing software, you can bring your certification process into the 21st century while keeping everything 100% tamper-resistant.

DocuCert is valid in all courts

Trusted by courts.
Backed by math.

DocuCert relies purely on cryptography and mathematics to make your documents 100% tamper-proof.

That is why DocuCert documents, signed with your private key and timestamped, are valid in most of the jurisdictions (US, Sweden, Japan, Brazil, UK, Dubai, …) as direct evidence in court.

The EU prohibits courts from denying the legal admissibility of timestamps as evidence (EU-qualified timestamping).

FAQs

How does DocuCert work?

DocuCert is an integrable solution that automates and simplifies the issuing and management of digital certificates, e.g., for employee training, diplomas, or product security tests. There is no separate user interface nor a separate login. Instead, it’s a valuable feature that is directly added to your existing workflows.

What kind of certificates can DocuCert issue?

DocuCert can issue certificates in a number of ways: as a printed and shipped paper certificate, as a digitally signed PDF document, or a sharable document website including a badge. The shareable document website allows the certificate holder to share all relevant information regarding a certificate and omit specific private data fields. Once set up, the right bundle of certificates is automatically issued.

What do the issued certificates look like?

The certificates will match your ideas 100%. In a very user-friendly way, you can design certificates according to your corporate identity using plain Microsoft Word as the template engine.

I generate PDFs already, how can I leverage DocuCert?

If your system already issues PDF documents, DocuCert can be integrated into that workflow as well. We append the metadata to this PDF and create the document webpage automatically. The validate page and the document website works in the same way.

How customizable / configurable are certificates?

Since our software uses Windows Word documents as a basis, any trained Word user can easily adapt it. So there are almost no restrictions.  All you need to generate a certificate is a Word template according to your corporate design, set with placeholders, e.g., first name, last name. DocuCert exchanges these placeholders with real data from your database when issuing a certificate.

How automated will issuing certificates be if I use DocuCert?

The issuing of certificates can be fully automatic. With DocuCert, you can set triggers for the issuing of a certificate based on the information your system provides. When speaking about a learning management system (LMS), for example, participants can automatically get their certificate when they successfully pass their training. The trigger, in this case, might be a database update such as “training passed.”

Do I have to share the certificate holder’s data with DocuCert?

No, to issue and manage tamper-proof certificates with DocuCert, there is no need to share sensitive data with us. Our service is set up as its own Docker container in the environment where your data is stored – in the cloud or even on-premise. Only a fingerprint (hash) of the data that is used for the blockchain anchoring will be sent to our servers. Because of this, you can add a valuable feature to your software without updating any legal text.

Can DocuCert issue documents in my name?

DocuCert provides an API where you can issue digitally signed documents. To issue new documents, a digital signature is required. The private keys to generate those signatures are stored on your IT infrastructure only. Because of this, we at DocuCert will never have access to them and cannot issue documents in your name.

What kind of software suites can DocuCert be integrated into?

DocuCert can be added to any existing software that can provide the data required for issuing the certificate (e.g., name, family name, name of the training) via a RESTful API endpoint.

Can DocuCert get implemented into software that runs in the cloud?

Yes, we support both cloud-based and on-premise software.
